One of the nicest features of Ubuntu Linux is the automatic update feature, which helps you keep your computer updated with the latest software and security updates. There’s also a nice GUI tool that helps you configure how often updates are checked, and can even automatically download the new updates.
You will find the tool on your System \ Administration \ Software Sources menu
When the tool opens, navigate to the Internet Updates tab, and you should see a section for Automatic Updates that allows you to select how often you want to check for updates. If you want the updates to automatically download you can check that box as well.
If you have plenty of drive space but your internet connection isn’t real fast, you may want to automatically download the updates, which will save you a lot of time when you choose to install them.
