I was looking for how to kill the timer and couldn't find it anywhere either. Es meklēju to, kā nogalināt taimeris un nevar atrast nekur vai nu. And just to clarify for the other uber noobs like myself, commenting it out simply means putting a # in front of it. I personally was expecting this grub editing to be more like entering cryptic commands, than just scrolling down a page and making changes and clicking save. I cant save my menu.lst file. Nevaru saglabāt manu menu.lst failu. An error pops up saying “Don't have the permission to save this file”. Error pops up sakot: "Vai jums nav atļauju saglabāt šo failu".
I m the only user in the system and i am the admin. I m tikai lietotāja sistēmā, un es esmu admin. Can any one pls tell me how to make that file to be saved. Vai kāds pls man pastāstīt, kā padarīt šo failu saglabāt.

You can not just openthe menu.lst file and change it. Jūs varat ne tikai openthe menu.lst failu un izmainiet to. Under Ubuntu you can use the terminal window and enter: Zem Ubuntu varat izmantot termināla logu un ievadiet:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst sudo gedit / boot / grub / menu.lst
