GMedia Blog: Setting Up a Windows Home Server

One of the reasons we started the How-To Geek Blogs was to give bloggers the chance to focus on other topics that we don’t cover as regularly here. If you are interested in Windows Home Server, our very own Gmedia blog has been running a series covering the addition of a new server in his already impressive home media setup.

But that’s not all – the series is still continuing, covering add-ins and further customization. If you are interested in Windows Home Server or setting up a home media serving network, you should subscribe to the Gmedia RSS Feed.

I’ve set up a server at home using Windows Server 2003. With all the bugs reported for Home Server (data loss being the main one), do you think Windows Home Server is the way to go?

I’m in the process of preparing a spare PC to install Home Server. I think that is the way to go because of the simple administration and features it has for home use.

However, Server 2003 or 2008 offer other things for businesses that aren’t so useful at home.

    It’s your choice.

I’ve been waiting for the service pack to correct the data corruption bug, and that’s when I plan on buying WHS.
