See More Items in the Recent File / Project Lists in Visual Studio 2005

The start page for Visual Studio 2005 shows only the last 8 projects by default. How that is supposed to make sense is beyond me. The Recent Files and Recent Projects list on the File menu are also extremely limited.

The good thing is that this is an easy fix.

Go to Tools \ Options \ Environment \ General, as you can see in the screenshot:

Just update the Recent files section with the amount of items that you want to see.

Don't show again X

That’s great, but how dow you change the Open / New links at the bottom of the Recent project box to also show Web Site – currently it only allows links to Projects ??

I have “garbage” items listed in the Recent Projects list on the Startup page in Visual Studio 2005. How do I clean up the list?

To put web sites in the recent project list, simply use the menu File > Open Web Site, select File System, find the website folder and click the Open button. This will only work for web site folders that you have access to.
