hi , i installed ubuntu 7.10 ppc version on my ps3 and i have been trying to get the flash to work. I’ve gone to youtube to get the plugins but no such thing happens. I followed the instructions on this but when i ran it in the terminal, it started up blank for half a second and dissapeared off the screen. When i download it in the terminal, it downloads it, but when i choose to install it, it says no such file or directories exsist. Can someone lend some advice or help please.

@newuser: First off, you are not going to be able to do as much the easy way with an older version of Ubuntu. Six versions have been released since the version you are using. Part of Ubuntu is a fast release cycle, and you may not want to use it if you don’t like it.

That said, I can show you a harder way to get flash working everywhere.

1. Download http://www.adobe.com/shockwave.....kwaveFlash and select tar.gz for Linux.

2. Extract the the file ending in .so. To select where to extract it to, go to your home directory. Right click and click “Show hidden files.” find .mozilla, and double click there. If you do not already have it, create a directory here called plugins . Now you can click to extract the file.

Fire up Opera and you should be good to go!

I have been trying to install Flash Player & Opera on Ubuntu ver. 5.10 but without any success.

I feel like I miss my “double-click” from the windows environment, really! This is too much trouble to go through to make a browser to work!

Did you install the 64-bit version of Ubuntu? The installation on 64-bit computers is the same. You can download the latest Flash player 10 using this command:
wget http://download.macromedia.com.....508.tar.gz

Since Firefox on Linux and Flash don’t getting along well, you may find this article helpful –
