Remove Unsuitable Comments from YouTube

Tired of all the garbage and the profanity in the comments at YouTube? Now you can clean things up with the YouTube Comment Snob extension for Firefox.

Before

Here is the example page we chose at YouTube. Obviously this one is not as bad as others that can be found there, but will prove sufficient for our extension test. You can see that there was some profanity (blacked out) and less than stellar writing (i.e. all lower case letters, etc.).

After

Here is the same YouTube page from before…look at how cleaned up the comments section is. Only one of the six comments made it past the extension.

Note: The results shown are based on the default settings shown in the “Options Window” below.

I actually find some of the YouTube comments highly amusing, and it makes me feel good that I know how to use the English Language correctly.

most of the youtube comments are pretty useless, its just full of haters and people saying first second and the usual nonsense

@Nakul – I’m with you. Just don’t read them is the answer. Neither of our comments would presumably get past the “doesn’t begin with a capital letter” filter. Maybe YouTube could develop a more sophisticated version, but I’m sure it would quickly be circumvented.
