Create an iTunes Account without a credit card
iTunes Store offers a large variety of free content, but to download it you have to have an account. Usually you have to enter your credit card information to sign up, but here’s an easy way to get an iTunes account for free downloads without entering any payment info.
Although iTunes Store is known for paid downloads of movies, music, and more, it also has a treasure trove of free media. Some of it, including Podcasts and iTunes U educational content do not require an account to download. However, any other free content, including free iPhone/iPod Touch apps and free or promotional music, videos, and TV Shows all require an account to download. If you try to download a free movie or music download, you will be required to enter payment information.
Even though your card will not be charged, it will be kept on file so you can be charged if you download a for-pay item. However, if you only plan to download free items, it may be preferable to not have your account linked to a credit card. The following steps will get you an account without entering your credit card info.
Getting Started
First, make sure you have iTunes installed. If you don’t already have it, download and install it (link below) with the default settings.
Now open iTunes, and click the iTunes Store link on the left.
Click the App Store link on the top of this page.
Select a free app to download. A simple way to do this is to scroll down to the Top Free Apps box on the right side, hover your mouse over the first item, and click on the Free button that appears when you hover over it.
A popup will open asking you to sign in with your Apple ID. Click “Create New Account”.
Click Continue to create your account.
Check the box to accept the Store Terms and Conditions, and click Continue.
Enter your email address, password, security question, and date of birth, and uncheck the boxes to get email if you don’t want it…then click Continue.
Now, you will be asked to provide a payment method. Notice now that the last option says None! Click that bullet option…
Then enter your billing address. Simply enter your normal billing address, even though you are not entering a payment method. Click Continue and your account will be created!
If you get the Address Verification screen just verify your county and click Done.
An email will be sent to you to verify your account…
Click on the link in your email to verify your account, iTunes will launch and you’re prompted to enter in the Apple ID and Password you just created.
Your account is successfully created!
Now you can easily download any free media from iTunes. Keep an eye on the Free on iTunes box on the bottom of the iTunes Store page for interesting downloads, or if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, watch the popular Free downloads on the Apps page.
And of course there is always great content on iTunes U to grab free as well.
Purchasing for-pay media
If you want to purchase an item on the iTunes store later, simply click on the item to download as normal. Click Buy to proceed with the purchase.
iTunes will prompt you that you need to enter payment information to complete the purchase. Enter your Apple ID email and password, and then add the payment information as prompted.
Remove Payment Information from an iTunes Account
If you’ve already entered payment information into your iTunes account, and would like to remove it, click Store in the top iTunes menu, and select View My Account.
Enter your Apple ID email and password, and click View Account.
This will open your account information. Click the Edit Payment Information button.
Now, click the None button to remove your payment information. Click Done to save the changes.
Your account will now prompt you to enter payment information if you try to make a purchase. You could repeat these steps after making a purchase if you do not want iTunes to keep your payment info on file.
Conclusion
This is a great way to make an iTunes account without entering your credit card, or to remove your credit card info from your account. Parents may especially enjoy this tip, as they can have an iTunes account on their kids computer or iPod Touch without worrying about them spending money with it.

Not sure which version you are using but NONE is not an option in 9.0.3.15 for Windows. Am I missing something?
You have to create an account the way the steps show, you can’t create an account normally. There is another method as well, but I can’t remember how.

OK, I changed my location to Argentina, rebooted, switched back to US and followed the directions again and this time it worked. Well the NONE choice was there, I still coudn’t sign up because it didn’t like my address but at least I discovered that it was me, not the tutorial, that is crazy. :-)
How do you upload a song onto “itune” for sale ?

Ok so I created an account from my iPhone , it worked, I was just wondering if I buy apps or iTunes, does the card on the phone contract get charged or will something be sent to me because I put my info in the account Info. ? @Leesa – Your iTunes account is fully separate from your phone contract, so no, nothing from your phone contract should become associated with your iTunes account.

I am having the same issue. I am creating an iTunes account for my husband so that he can post his podcast on iTunes. I have to the “none” and “PayPal” options and with both option, I get the same message that Jason gets. I don’t want to post my husband’s podcast under my account and I know my husband does not want to give iTunes his credit card information. He has no intention of buying anything from the iTunes store.

I have to let you all know that this works for existing accounts that got prompted for credit card verification as well.
I have an existing account on iTunes 10.0.0.68 with no credit card on file and one day it started asking me to login and verify credit card.
I followed these steps but after selecting a free app and being prompted to log in, I used my existing account credentials instead. I saw the “none” selection but it was already selected. I was also prompted to enter a”salutation” which I did not have entered before. After entering the “SALUTATION” I was able to update the account info.

For all of those out there that are confused, you have to follow the steps exactly. Choose a FREE app from the app store and THEN create the account through that. No skipping steps or it doesn’t work. Good luck!

To make None options appear u need to chose free apps first.. click install n create new acc.. Then the none options will be there.. If u just create new acc without pick free apps the none options will hide automatically

I select “free app” and when it asks me to sign in, I use my current e-mail and password. It then says I have yet to use the iTunes Store and wants me to review my information. When I get to the credit card part, there is no “none” and it will NOT let me pass. Do I have create a new e-mail address?

To those who say they don’t have a “none” option: When I first tried to make an account I didn’t have a “none” option either but then I found out how to find the “none” option. Just follow these steps.
1. First make sure that you are in the App Store NOT the iTunes store.
2. Buy a FREE app.
3. Fill out all the information leading up to the credit card information.
4. Select a random credit card.
5. But “none” for the credit card number and security code.
6. Enter in a random credit card expiration date,
7. Fill out the rest of the information and click continue.
8. Then it will make you put in a credit card and it will say the credit card number and security code are invalid.
9. Then if you look at the credit card options “none” will be at the end.
10. Click “none” and then click continue and you will have successfully made an iTunes account.
Hope this information helped. I hope this method works for all of you who have had the same problem. :)
I just wanted to comment on my error in my comment above. On step 5 instead of “But” It is supposed to be Put.

I think it has something to do with the web browser , because when i was using google chrome it wasnt any ” none ” option . but when i used Mozilla Firefox , and redownloaded iTunes it gave me the none option . so hopfully that works for you guys too :)

THIS IS NO LONGER AN OPTION None has been removed, they now require a credit card, period.
To those who say this doesn’t work or no longer works, there is a page on Apple’s own website telling you how to do precisely this. It make it very clear that you must be in the APP STORE, not the iTunes Store, and you MUST “PURCHASE” A FREE APPLICATION for the “None” payment option to appear.

You need to follow the step-by-step instructions, then, when I saw it… the clouds parted, the sun came out.. okay – enough of that.
Just follow the steps: First, CLICK on the APPS at the top of your iTunes page. CLICK to choose one of the FREE APPS. This will bring up the new account page. THEN, I think you may need to create an account with a DIFFERENT e-mail address than you may have been using there before, for purchases in “the Store”. Follow the steps and you will see on the payment page, the NONE bullet at the end. (I ONLY did that and it advanced to the next step without adding any card at all). After my e-mail was verified by them, I was logged in and ready to go. Now, I have to familiarize myself with what is actually available for “free”, but remember, if you strictly want items for free, you are limiting yourself to what is marked as such.

This worked perfectly for me.
I seriously needed it because I don’t even own a credit card, but I was given an ipod by a friend. I generally hate Apple products because they lock you in to their company and yet out of your own device, and was frustrated when I found I had to have a credit card just to sync music and remove what was on it.
I’m still not an Apple lover, but at least now this ipod will work, which is better than going out and buying another mp3 player after mine broke.

Step 1:–Install Itunes…
Step 2:– Open Itunes
Step 3:– Go to the right side of the website , there is a menu called TOP CHARTS (Dont Click on that). Just below that link u will able to see paid Apps and if u r scorling down then you will able to find ” Free Apps ” link ( U should select any free apps –Means need to click…)..
Step 4:– Now u will able to see a drop down menu just below the apps picture…( Just click on it)
Step 5:– New pop will come and there will be a option to create a new account..Click..
Step 6: click Continue.
Step 7: Accept Agreement..
Step 8: Provide your personal details
Step 9: Next option you willa ble to see ” None option” ..select that and file req. details..
Step 10:– go a head !!! (Now u dont need any help)

None option only appears if we choose to ‘create id’ and not sig-in with the existing apple id. Rest would follow.

Hi have an iTunes account without credit card information, but, unfortunately before that account I tried to create an account without downloading a free app, so I have no option for none with that e-mail ID.
Everytime I enter that email ID iTunes ask me to review my account.

i have created the itune account but when i got to the payment method it said i should provid my gift number and i do not have and when i got to the choose visa, master card, paypal, none, but in my screen the NONEdid not appear so i need help to know how to do, thanks living, am in spain
I followed the directions precisely and it worked. You must create a new ID using a non-Itunes associated email address. I used the gmail alias email feature to create the new account so it would remain associated with my primary email account.
I HAVE 4 DIFFERENT APPLE ID’s WHICH I CAN USE INTERCHANGEABLY IN MAC APP STORE ON MY LAPTOP, APP STORE ON MY IPHONE AND ITUNES TO BUY MUSIC AND MOVIES FOR MY IPAD. I PLAY AROUND WITH MY ACCOUNTS WHICHEVER HAS THE CREDITS (FROM ITUNES CARD) AND WHICHEVER CREDIT CARD NUMBER I CAN USE. THIS ISSUE IS SUCH A PIECE OF CAKE!!!
LISTEN EVERYONE!! PURCHASING A FREE APP IS SUCH A LONG ROUTE IN DOING THIS ACCOUNT CREATION THINGY. THE REASON WHY IT ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE THE OPTION “NONE” IS BECAUSE, BY DEFAULT, WHEN YOU ACCESS APP STORE, IT WILL SET UNITED STATES AS YOUR LOCATION/COUNTRY. THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE. WHATEVER METHOD YOU FOLLOW, JUST MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR LOCATION TO UNITED STATES. YOU CAN EITHER FABRICATE AN ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER, OR BORROW FROM THE ONES YOU KNOW LIVING IN THE U.S. TRUST ME.

Black is actually every color. Something appears black because all the light rays for al colors ar asorbed into and none are release. hense Black. Trying doing a Chromatography with a non-permanent black marker and tell me what you. Guaranty you get a mixture of a bunch of diffrent colors.

Not going to bother – you cannot use redeem codes without a credit card enabled account. People are reporting hacked iTunes accounts all over Apple forums – information being stolen through spurious automated downloads.
