Hey folks

I have an odd problem. My parent's home computer is running Windows XP with multiple accounts, including a guest account. Lately, the guest account has been logging in by itself while no one is using the computer. I did some googling, but I couldn't come up with anything. I did find out that the guest account is apparently very insecure. However, I'm using XP Home and thus I cannot disable it completely.

So, I have two questions. What is causing my guest account to log in by itself? Should the guest account be locked down?

Hi Taybay, long time no see. Does it only happen when the computer is connected to the net ?

Hey there, LH

The computer is always connected to the internet via DSL. Do you suspect that this is malicious activity?

It's a possibility. Guest accounts, are, apparently, easy to break into.

I'll put a password on it and see if the problem persists.

I would also scan the machine with everything possible, in case something has already been planted.

Edit. And change your router password.

Also, Is it wireless enabled, and do they have neighbours close by ?
