Please fellows I need your help in this matter urgently. I have a Compaq V3424TU Notebook PC which has a 160 GB Samsung HM160Ji ATA Hard drive installed in it. When I try to install Windows XP in it, the setup shows a error message "NO Hard Drives Detected"!!! I saw the solution in a forum related to this topic and I got a solution that I should use nlite and integrate the hard drive's drivers so that xp recognises my hard disk. But now I am unable to understand where o find the XP drivers for my Samsung HM160Ji ATA Hard drive. Please help me. My Operating System is Windows Vista Home Premium. Please Please Please Help me.....

You don't need drivers for the hard drive, you need drivers for the SATA controller on your motherboard.
To do that you find out what the motherboard chipset is, go to the chipset manufactors web site and download the SATA drivers.
I went to HP's web site and it doesn't directly say what the chipset is. It does however say on the HP Windows Vista driver page for that model, the graphics driver chipset and that is probably the same chipset as the SATA controller due to it being unlikely different ones would be used in the same computer.
The SATA driver for that chipset is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

What I infer from your post is this: My MotherChipset is "Intel Mobile 945 Chipset". So now I should go to Intel's website and download the SATA drivers for XP for my Intel 945 Mobile Chipset. Please confirm whether this is what you asked me to do.
Anyways many many thanks for helping me, its been a yr I am trying to install XP in my notebook.
I am downloading the Intel Matrix Storage Manager from the link you provided i.e. Intel Storage Manager in your post

Following your advice i downloaded Intel Storage Manager from the link you provided. Unlike my expectation the downloaded file did'nt extract but it got installed like any normal *.exe file. Now i am unable to find the required *.inf files so that i can integrate them into my customized xp cd. i tried to extract its files using winrar, winzip and 7-zip but it did'nt support the extention.

pjeet89,

A bit of confusion possibly as there are several files on the same Intel Page

Should have downloaded (F6) Make Boot 32 Floppy file which includes TXT setup file.
Under Utilities in middle of page:
Item 2. 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility (199KB) 8.5.0.1032 8/18/2008

EXTACT Floppy Configuration Utility Files and include them in the Slipstream CD.
The extacted files will include Matrix Storage Manager among others.
After XP installation, Intall (Complete) Intel Mobile 945 Chipset Driver.
Kindest Regards,
Rick P.♦ :)
