Tried to setup this device to work as a wireless access point. In addition to unstability, I could not use tomato. Guess its a compatbility issue. Intructions on how to convert to wireless access point pictures were tomato. However, from what I read, this device can not be turned into an access point. Is that true?

Yes, the Linksys WRT54G V5 Really Is a Lousy Router.
