Hey, I need help with this ribbon on word 2007. Usually there's tabs at the top such as 'Home', 'Insert', 'Page Layout', 'References'...ect. but the only thing that's showing up on mine is 'Menus'. I am trying to do my homework and it is telling me to go to the 'References' tab, but it's not there and I can't find what it's asking me to find. I need help ASAP! Homework is due Monday and it's already Friday! Please help!

Hi FacelessWolf, welcome to HTG. Please be patient, a lot of our regulars live across the big pond and are asleep at the moment. I´m sure you will get an answer eventually. Matt

Open Word and on the ORB at the top right, RMB on it. At the bottom you'll see WORD OPTIONS, select that and then CUSTOMIZE. Check SHOW QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR BELOW THE RIBBON and I think it what is required.

I don't think that's it. He is missing what's shown in the picture - and I do not have the faintest idea how to get it back.

OK WHS, I was confused...

This IS covered in the HELP and you need the QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR to do this or use the key combo to restore it, from the HELP

---------------------
Minimize the Ribbon
The Ribbon is designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups that are collected together under tabs. Each tab relates to a type of activity, such as writing or laying out a page. To reduce screen clutter, some tabs are shown only when they are needed.

There is no way to delete or replace the Ribbon with the toolbars and menus from the earlier versions of Microsoft Office. However, you can minimize the Ribbon to make more space available on your screen.

Always keep the Ribbon minimized
Click Customize Quick Access Toolbar .
In the list, click Minimize the Ribbon.
To use the Ribbon while it is minimized, click the tab you want to use, and then click the option or command you want to use.
For example, with the Ribbon minimized, you can select text in your Microsoft Office Word document, click the Home tab, and then in the Font group, click the size of the text you want. After you click the text size you want, the Ribbon goes back to being minimized.
Keep the Ribbon minimized for a short time
To quickly minimize the Ribbon, double-click the name of the active tab. Double-click a tab again to restore the Ribbon.
Keyboard shortcut To minimize or restore the Ribbon, press CTRL+F1.
Restore the Ribbon
Click Customize Quick Access Toolbar .
In the list, click Minimize the Ribbon.
Keyboard shortcut To minimize or restore the Ribbon, press CTRL+F1.

Tip You can still use the keyboard shortcuts while the Ribbon is minimized. For more information about keyboard shortcuts, see Use the keyboard to work with Ribbon programs.
----------------------

I hid it (the little pulldown at the end of the quick access toolbar had the minimize) and then used CTRL+F1 and it all came back.

The pic that WHS posted is what I want the page to look like yes...but my problem is that when word starts up it looks like that for a sec, but then it switches over and looks the same except it only has one tab that is labeled 'menus'. I have been told that the setup is like word 2003, but I don't know how to switch it over to 2007

Did you have Word 2003 installed previously. It could be that there are reminants of it that produce this confusion.
