The network connection to my local network / wireless always fails in my home (yellow triangle with exclaimation mark over the tray icon) in my new Sony Viao Model SVE15113ENB, while other HP lap top works fine.

I've tried using the troubleshooter to resolve the problem, I disable firewall and antivirus but it doesn't help. Windows Network Diagnostics shows:
"Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

The same PC works fine in my office & other areas. Only in my home it shows no internet access both wireless & local LAN

My broad band conection is from BSNL
Can someone help me?

Are the Wireless Network drivers installed? Can you even see your home SSID on your new laptop? Verify the drivers in Device Manager by going to Control Panel - Device Manager - Netowrk Adapters. You should see one for your ethernet port and one for your wireless.

Edit: If you don't have the drivers here is the link from Sony: http://www.sony.co.in/support/.....sve15113en

Also you might have a static IP address on your wireless device under network adapters. You'll need to check that as well and make sure it's set to Dynamic.

If you are using Windows 7 -

Right Click the network Icon by the clock in your task bar
Choose Open Network and Configuration
Change adapter settings
Look for a wireless connection
Right click and choose properties
Double click Internet Protocol 4
In here you will see if it's static or dynamic - static meanin "Use the following IP address" is checked.

Also - when you click the network icon in your task manager - does it pull up your home netowrk in the list? Maybe you have a bad password if you do see it.

You have your home network as an open network? Meaning anyone in range can connect to it and piggy back off you? Uh-oh...or you simply haven't tried to connect to your home network yet?

"Wireless Network Connection & LAN conection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration".
I hope you understand my problem.

When i tried the same SONY PC in other modem it works fine.

Your home network is different than your work. I'm sure at work you typed in a password to hop on the wireless. Did you enter in a password to get access to your home network?

Please provide the following information;

Open up command prompt - click start, type cmd and hit enter. A black box should appear.

In the box please type this in;

Ipconfig /all> network.txt & network.txt - this will export your network settings into a notepad - can you please copy your settings into the forum please?

Also - what Anti-Virus are you running?

Try running IPCONFIG /ALL on the one that does work, I'm sure if you compare the GATEWAY you'll see a big difference. The one above appears to be an IPV6 type address for the GATEWAY. Bet the one that does work would be 192.168.x.x format.

If so, your network settings are wrong for home. There are tools that will allow a switch of the network setting for different places.

Sorry I missed this one, hope you are still 'here'...

From the one that DOESN'T work :

================

fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1

=============

The one that DOES work :

==============
Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : local.lan
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled
==========

You need to specify the GATEWAY. I'll assume you CAN see the wireless SSID radio signal?
