Sorry for that , basically i have been using my wifi router for about 12 months without any secureity ie password , i was told that i could get unauthorised people piggy backing on my wifi connection so i went into configuration and setup for my SpeedTouch ADSL router and setup a WAP2 secureity and a password , but my Laptop now won't connect via wifi only with the cable , really if you know of any walk through with screen shots of how to set it up that would be good , you might realize i am not to well versed in computers

frigiliana,
Since you are running Vista, let me suggest that you post:
1. Model Number of the Router.
2. Make and Model Number of the Laptop.
3. Any other pertinent information concerning the network.
Maybe then one of our Vista Experts will pick up on your Topic and help get you going.
Kindest Regards,

Here goes
1. WiFi Thomson ST580 ADSL Router
2. Acer Laptop Aspire 7720Z
3. Vista Home Premium with SP2
My laptop did detect my WiFi router and i right click where i choose .... WAP2 Personal ......TKPH? or AES.....and the Password click ok but i still get something like "The settings on this system do not correspond with your router " and a Red cross next to the words
Cheers Dave
frigiliana,
Thanks for posting back with the info.
The bad news is that I run XP with a custom firmware router and cannot see your screens.
The Good news is that your problem can (easily) be resolved if you can get help from another member who runs the standard configuration of WAP2 with Vista as you need.
Here is an article that may help. Sorry for the pop-ups in the article but they are harmless.
