I am trying to install Win XP in my Lenovo E42G latop (it does not have any OS), and I received a message that "set up did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". I have read this forum and leaned that you can reset SATA in the Bios to COMPATIBILITY and it works. I don't know how to reset the SATA in BIOS because when I get into BIOS, I did not find any SATA option (menus) or cofiguration. Please help.

Thank you very much for your help.

rhonggwuedu,

When I search site for Lenovo E42G; it ask for (7) digit model number.

We have run into this before because OEM makes different product variations for different world regions.
Let me search further for you.
Watch your topic.

rhonggwuedu,
Does this link help find your machine ??

I must have the machine specifications before I can tell you which chipset drivers you must use to make a slipstream XP CD.

@ScottW,

Thanks a bunch !!!!

This is going to be a hard one because I have NO idea what Chipset IBMs use.
Can't even make an educated guess like I can on other machines.

@ScottW and raphoenix

I found that at the bottom of the machine there are two numbers, below a bar code:

S/N: EBO7570220
P/N: R36038116203

Sincerely,

Getting closer. Based on the "EB" in the serial, it is probably a model 3000 or IdeaPad. See this diagram:

Where it says "Lenovo 3000 Y410" in the image above, what does yours say?

It says "Lenovo E42G". I think my machine is for Asian Region?

rhonggwuedu,
Your numbers didn't help BUT OK.

Had to go to Africa.
Here is the Chipset and Main Driver.
845/855 Chipset
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/supp.....MIGR-46058

Now I have to go to Intel Site and get the Floppy Divers for the Chipset to include in the slipstream.
EDIT: How old is machine ???

Just have feeling The Chipset should be 965.
Let me research further.

Hang in there.

rhonggwuedu,
Download and run Intel Chipset ID utility from this site.
We have to be exactly correct.

Please Post Back with Results.

So, how was your trip? Ha, ha! :-)

Seriously, though, I still can't find this system even at Lenovo EMEA sites. How do you know what chips it has?
