I like to have my desktop icons at 48 pixels with Verdana, 8, Bold.

I would like icons in Explorer though to remain 32 pixels with Times New Roman, 10. The change also effects the location bar in Explorer / Internet Explorer and certain buttons in Internet Explorer.

I would like to change the desktop icons and not have that affect anything else. Does anyone know how to achieve this?

Right-click on the desktop and select View -> Large Icons. This changes the size of icons on the desktop only. The other choices are Medium and Classic. Does that work for you?

I don't have view. I only have:
Arrange Icons by
Refresh
Paste
Paste Shortcut
New
Properties

Sorry, I've got Vista on the brain. That was for Vista.

In XP, go to Display Properties -> Appearance -> Advanced and find Icon in the Item drop-down. There you can change the size and font. Give that a try.

That is what I did, but it affects things other than the desktop icons.

Yes, I see what you mean. I just tried it on my XP system and saw that the icons in Explorer became larger. I didn't notice any change in the Explorer or IE toolbar.

I can't see a way to do this with the standard settings, but there may be some kind of tweak out there that I don't know of.
