I have a new Hp Pavilion a6567c preloaded with Windows Vista Home Edition, this computer is for work, so I tried installing Windows XP Professional x64, I boot the pc with the XP CD but after it loads all the files and its ready to start loading windows I got an error message "A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer", then I tried formatting the hard drive, I had a hard time trying to, until I found "Kill Disk", this program deleted everything, I also deleted the factory_image partition D, then I got error 32...Tried booting with XP again didn't work, same error message "A problem...". What else can I do? Will it work if I get a new hard drive and install xp into it?

Gatu, welcome to the forum. I see that this system has a SATA hard drive. Did you install SATA drivers with F6 during the XP install?

Other than that, you could try debugging the STOP 0x7B with the information here:

I have the drivers in a CD but with F6 is looking for a floppy disk, which I don't have. I'll try debugging then. Thnks!
Also do you have any idea how can I run a msdos base accounting program in windows vista, the compatability wizard is not working or running as administrator.

Thnks, again.

You should go into your systems BIOS and disable/remove any references to floppy disk drives, that should let your F6 look to the DVD/CD drive.

@Budo, according to the specs at HP, the DVD-RW drive is also SATA. Catch 22! Would a USB floppy or flash drive work?

@Gatu, you are going to need those SATA drivers and this error might be related. It's not the usual error message that you get without SATA drivers, but from that link it is some kind of I/O error.

Thnks Scott, Yes, I agree, I'm thinking that there's something else too. I also though about using a flash drive. But at this point I think I'm just going to leave as it is, I'll just upgrade to vista business. Thanks for all your help. Also any ideas on running a msdos base program on vista?
