(Solved) - Windows XP Disk Management

Hi,

I recently purchased a SATA external hard drive that I tried to connect to my Dell D610 laptop running XP Home Edition, via a USB port. But MY COMPUTER does not recognize the drive no matter which USB port that I use. The person that I bought the drive from said go to: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, and the click on the Disk Management utility to format my external hard drive. But the Disk Management utility doesn't exist on my computer, and I don't see any online downloads for it. The Add Hardware utiltiy in the Control Panel recognizes the drive and says that it is working properly. Can anyone tell me how I can get MY COMPUTER to recognize the drive or how I can install Disk Management on my drive?

Right click My Computer, CLICK Manage, Under Storage clck Disk Management

I right clicked on My Computer and got the same message that I get when I go to Control Panel:

MMC could not creat the snapin.

By chance does your D610 have USB1.0?

Not sure about USB1.O, but I reloaded the OS and now I have Disk Management.
