Windows will not load

I was watching a film on netflix when a system popup appeared telling me i needed to update my version of flashplayer.
I clicked accept as is showed it was safe in my virus filter.
As soon as it hit 51% my computer shut off.
Now when i turn it on it shows the screen where i can hit f2 to enter the setup but once it passes that point i see no bios or anything.
I get a black screen with a flashing white bar.
What could be this problem and how should i proceed?

COREYFINCK, Hi.

Make and model of machine would help.
Assuming this is a laptop, disconnect power lead, take out battery, press the 'on' button for 5-10 secs.
Reinsert battery, connect charger,
boot normally.

What happens now?

Thanks for the idea but it did not produce any results.
Its just a crappy acer from wal mart i bought for my girlfriend earlier this year.

Have you tried hitting the F8 key several times instead of F2 to see if it will boot to Advanced Boot Options?

Yes i tried that (being used to f8 allowing me to enter the recovery database) but it does not respond at all other than a loud beeping when i hold the button in.
