When I run sidebar it never shows up. When I look in the task manager to see what's happening, sidebar.exe shows form a second and then it disappears. How do I keep it from closing automatically?

Two questions:
1. Do you have a sidebar icon in the notification area of the taskbar (may be hidden behind the <) - if yes, you can open it from there.
2. Is the sidebar in your startup programs. If not, put the the sidebar.exe (not the shortcut) into the startup folder. You can open the startup folder by typing: SHELL:STARTUP into the start/search field and then you hit enter or click on it above.

What happens when you go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows sidebar and start it from there? Is that the case where it shows for a moment and then closes?
