it's kinda like vista version 1.1, where all major bugs are fixed, extra features, etc.

You might have considered asking here before you installed ;)

If you have your Update downloads set to automatic, you may want to reconsider that.

There is tons of info on the web. All you have to do is google "Vista SP1"

Opinions are apparently mixed. I wonder though, whether SP1 will even install on your "Special Vista". You may want to check this out. http://support.microsoft.com/d.....spid=11707

Knowing me I will, if it crashes then what the heck. It's about due for a reinstall anyway

The best article I've seen about SP1 was in today's How-To Geek newsletter - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto.....ce-pack-1/

I read the Geeks newsletter of today. The window where he shows "1 update available" shows a size of the update that is twice as large as the one I got. Mine is only 65.0 MB - 427.0 MB. I wonder why? Did I get a discount version? What is the size of yours?

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on that machine with all the extra content installed... I'm guessing my update required more files, and the 64-bit files are probably bigger anyway.

Thanks Geek - that probably explains it. I would still be interested what the other Home Premium fellows have.

I'm kind of with Sparky, but that contradicts The geek's suggestion to do it ASAP. I'm at least going to wait a week or two to listen to the buzz as the masses install.

Appletom, No, I did not install SP1. I just have it sitting in my "available updates". I go with Sparky - wait and see. I'll probably "hide" it for a while. I don't see an advantage yet.

@Appletom: Yes, the right click search option for folders is disabled in Service Pack 1 but you get it back with a simple registry edit.
Also no actual search function has changed, all the search boxes in Vista are still there.

hurtingbad, if you have the chance, please post a synopsis of your experience on the sticky thread at the top of the main page. We'd like input from those that have installed. Thanks.
