Help !!!! the wife has a tendency to download all kinds of stuff and now the Ideapad with Vista does not load at all. The message is "Windows fails to load bcoz the system registry file is missing or corrupt." I do not have the installation disc. Tried everything so far that is available when pressing F2 & F12 while the computer is loading Windows. Is there a way to recover the registry file while not in Windows environment or obtaining the start-up repair disc via the internet (download using another computer). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. T

Hi daman63 ,

Welcome to HTG ,

You will have to help me out as to what IdeaPad is, as I have never seen this on Vista ???

Can you borrow a Vista installation disc from a friend/family member ?

@GuiltySpark

Ideapad seems to be a line of lenovo laptops:

That was what a google showed up, at least!

@ Krishna9697

The first post stated that they didn't have a repair disk.

@ Daman63

Have you tried booting into safe mode / recovery mode.

Do you have a disk burner

daman63, the repair/recovery disks now have to be paid for, which is unfortunate.
As you cannot access your OS, pretty bad.

However, if you click on mod to the left and email me, I will send you the .iso.
This will be via wireover.
