I have set the option "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them". This is to choose the updates that are really important and install them after few days. So, I have time to check if there is any issue with any updates.
Few weeks before there was an update from MS http://support.microsoft.com/d.....kb/940510. This update was showing in the Windows update list as important.

Now it has does not showing there. I am wondering where did it go?

I checked the update history it is not there and I did not install any updates after 02/17/08.

Did MS remove it? Any idea??

It was causing some problems, so MS may well have removed it from the list.
Edit. that update is now back on line

Santo, I would not worry about that. It's an attempt by MS to stop illegal Vista copies. It will come back with SP1 anyhow. Read this:

I did not install it. It's important to MS, not to us.

@whs...What you say is correct... I remember some time back MS updates making Vista OS as not original and asking for product key activation.. so now a days.. i think twice before i install any windows updates.

So what's wrong with installing an update that checks if you are legal or not?

Nothing wrong in principle. But every update you do not need reduces the chances of errors - that do sometimes come with updates (see KB 937287). And many of those buggers you cannot even uninstall because MS seems to equip them with uninstallers or not by their own whim.

I agree what whs says. But MS has disabled many of the original Vista's because of a mistake in their server. They even said only 12,000 customers were affected.. which is not true... this news was there in computerworld.com.
Even though I have factory installed Vista.. I don't want to screw up my notebook because of some updates.. so I always wait for few days.. and check in forums and tech sites.. about any known issue.. only then I install..

I agree, and as whs knows I don't install anything that will slow down my system. I have deleted so much MS Vista it's hard to keep track of. BUT everyone else is not me. I would not advise anyone to do what I do

I am actually looking forward to the day when all of my RAM is being used. Made it only to 44% max. - after all, I paid for every byte of it.
