Hello. I am having problems getting my sound to work (windows xp). It has worked for years on my computer perfectly, but in the last few days i cannot get sound to work with media player, utube, mp3s etc. As far as i know i haven't changed any settings, as i try not to tinker with settings. The catch is, when i reboot my computer the windows sound effects are working fine and come across lound and clear on my speakers. So i'm pretty sure everything is still plugged in and functional... Besides windows sound effects, though, i can't get sound from any other programs or files. Please help! Device manager says my sound drivers are fine. When i try to play an mp3 with windows media player i get an error that says "cannot play your file because there is an error with your sound device. THere might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly". As far as i know i haven't changed anything and sound was working as recently as a couple days ago. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks."
