my windows os is on hardrive which is partitioned----
i had a problem--( etc etc )---half of drive is good but other half with my operating system ( windows xp) now says RAW!!---and when i view it with partition magic --it says bad---
i need all my documents in it---
is tha all gone or is there a wway to retrieve????

If the documents you want are not on the "RAW" partition you should be able to recover them by attaching the drive to a working computer. A handy device for doing this is something like this Cables to Go USB 2.0 to IDE or Serial-ATA Drive Adapter.
There are certainly lots of offerings to Recover data from a RAW partition on a Google search
