My Nvidia 9400GT card is having a problem this past few days. The screen flickers and the display becomes dotted much like a low quality GIF image. When it stops, it says that "Windows Kernel Mode Driver Crash". When I checked at the Event Viewer it says in the description "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered", but the problem keeps on occurring randomly. I tried updating to the latest driver and the problem is still there, then I also revert back to the old driver that my graphics card came with, but the problem is still there.
I have a dual monitor setup but the other monitor I have is an old CRT type, and my primary monitor is an LCD monitor. They don't have the same resolution settings. Does that mean anything? Because I have this configuration a long time and haven't had any problems until now.
I googled this problem and every forum/site I visited does not have any concrete answers on how to solve this problem. One of the forum said that this problem occurs when playing heavy games, but I'm not playing those kinds of games. I think this is not the cause since the problem occurs when I'm just browsing the internet.
How can I solve this problem?
