I downloaded a movie from a web site and when i went to play it on windows media player i had to download a codec for the video. I was able to see the video but there is no sound. It says i need to download a codec for the audio to work but i am not sure where to go to get one and what one is the right one too use. Any suggestions?

try downloading the DivX codec, it supports almost all formats. when all else fails, you can always download VLC media player, it plays "almost" all formats. hope this helps

Try K-Lite Codec Pack.
Worked for me and it also comes with Media Player Classic.

well i was able to download the audio codec and was able to see and hear the movie but now for some reason it has some weird language in subtitles. They are talking in english but there are subtiles in a language i don't know is there a way to turn that off. When i play the movie through there web site there is no subtile but when i play on windows media and vlc there are subtiles.

If the film you download has only 1 file, then the subtitles are embedded in it. It is possible, but not too easy to remove them. If the film comes in more than 1 file, then one may be the subtitle file. If so, you delete that file, and the film will play without the s/ts
