rewq Hi.

You need to be more specific. What programs are you trying to upgrade and why.

Maybe try to install the latest version of Windows Installer:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us.....px?id=8483

For Windows Vista, download Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu for 64-bit and Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu for 32-bit.
How Do I Know if I’m Running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows? See the answer:

If you can't even install this then we will look for another solution.

I do not see any mention of what OS or model of HP computer, so the help will be general. The easiest would be to go back to the date before the suspected problem occurred. Depending on OS, it may be somewhat different but click on the "Start" button (lower left corner) in WinXP, I believe it is a globe with the Windows flag in Win7. Then pick "Help and Support" from the menu, then "System Restore". Depending on OS, that may have to be typed in the search box. Pick a date to restore to before the date this started.
