I use Norton 360 on my PC with Windows XP and Office 2007. Norton advises to turn of the Windows Firewall because they say Norton's firewall is better. Does this sound OK? Anyone care to comment? Thanks.

As it's on XP, I would go with Norton.

I would agree with Lighthouse. Windows XP's firewall isn't very impressive.

sopwyin54, 'I would agree with Lighthouse. Windows XP's firewall isn't very impressive.' Thanks for the input.

Norton firewall of course is a paid for in the package. Personally I do not like the Norton Security package.

There are free firewalls suitable for XP;

1) http://download.cnet.com/ZoneA.....39884.html supports inbound and outbound protocols
and
2) http://www.comodo.com/home/int.....rewall.php also is duplex

They can be difficult to educate but they are perfect for XP

I would agree with vistamike. ZoneAlarm and Comodo firewalls are very impressive. Not to mention free.

The OP already has Norton. So why not use it. And I certainly would not suggest Comodo.

Some banks offer free Kaspersky Internet Security for its online customers. For example Barclays bank. I use it on my XP, works great. Check in your area.
