In Windows 8, is there a utility available to get rid of Caps Lock for good? And is there another utility, like Tweak UI, that can get rid of those stupid arrows on the desktop icons? Thanks.

I don't know if it's relevant to Win8 (I don't use Win8), but HTG did an article on disabling/remapping CapsLock on Vista/Win7...

There are MANY that will turn off the arrows, I used (I think) Vista Shortcut Manager, and it did work.

As for CAPS LOCK, well, some BIOS's have a setting for that. Yours might, have you looked at it? Also some programs that will run at boot time, like THIS ONE should work?

If you want it OFF permanently, LOOK HERE for a way to do it.

If you are proficient in Visual Basic you can also write a program to do it on boot, also available on the web, GOOGLE for it.

This Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor looks like it will do the job on the arrows.

This may work for you (and it's better than those other programs)

For what it's worth, I found Caps Lock Changer online which I had used in the past. It's free and works just fine. Thanks to all.

Irv's link is the easiest and less fatal, however cnet have now included a nasty (the cnet installer, bundled with adware); select the link below the green radio button;

It works in win 7 32 and 64 bit.
