Yo; The fine folks at Classic Shell have updated their program to function in Windows 8
Windows 8 sucks, but if this shell works OK, it may take some of the suck away. For me, I'm sticking to W7 for now.

Sarris, thanks for that. We being using for last 3 weeks!
Win 8 needs to be used by the 'consumer', and we might see a change late May...or it could be September.
That aside, it is the CP community that helps, report back.
It is CP, play, have a cough then make the final decision....will you use it, will you recommend
Work on it, play with it.

Sarris,
THANKS for Checking and posting the UPDATE.
It's been estimated that %50 of folks who run Windows 7 use Classic Shell for Speed and
getting rid of the "Fluff" plus Dis-organization in the Win7 GUI.
What a relief that the program now has been Updated for Windows 8. :) :)
Great Catch !!!!

No tablet. I use it on a 22" desktop screen and a 15" laptop.
But when they come out with reasonable x86 tablets, I might buy one if the prices are less than $400. Conditions are 7", a very good readable screen, mini SD card port and a mini USB port. I would be looking for a WiFi only model because the US phone standards (3G, 4G) do not work in Europe.
From what I read, MS is going to have to produce (2) versions of Win8 to be accepted.
One for traditional stationary work places and another for mobile uses.
I can't envision workers sitting behind a desk trying to reach 24 inches to touch a wide screen monitor.
A bit of a reach I would say to manipulate objects. (LOL) :) :)

Yes, May be only (1) version is needed now that I think about it more deeply.
As quickly as the Start Button and Classic Shell were programed by third parties, MS need not release but only (1) version of Win8.
The third parties will take care of the rest.
I only wish that there was not so much setup involved to run on SSDs.
It takes about (2) hours of work Disabling and Enabling "Stuff" in Windows 7 to run SSDs efficiently.
Would be nice if someone made a Script File Solution to run ALL SSD O/S Adjustment Settings with just one click and a reboot. :) :)
I know that's OUR JOB but I'm lazy. (LOL) (LOL).......

What is all this stuff you are disabling. I only disable the hiberfile and defrag. And I also set the pagefile to 2GB because I always use small SSDs. Other than that there is the AHCI setting, but that is really all.
A couple of my older systems I run in IDE because they have no AHCI in the BIOS and I was not sure whether I should use RAID instead which some people recommend.
MY GOSH MAN, you are tearing up your SSDs if that's all you are doing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll make you a list of things that need to be Configured in the Bios and Tasks.
Give me some time.
By all means use Raid instead of IDE.
Only use IDE setting when you Restore Back to Factory Condition by using Secure HDDErase with Hot Plug Procedure to overcome Frozen Bios Lock.
Am going to have to write-up this procedure also as I think?? I'm the only one on HTG that has actually done the method.
I'll get back to you with all the SSD setup in a list format.
