(Solved) - Windows 8 CP and HTG

I'm using the Windows 8 CP and I can't get the "LINK" function to work while posting a reply in a HTG post.
I'm using Internet Explorer that is included in the CP.

I don't have a problem with it. Not sure why. The box is different and may appear at the top of the window. Here's what I get. It is a floating sub-window and may be even off the main window itself.

I was just wondering if it was a problem with my installation or if other people were having the problem.

Hmmm...it must be!

@Xhi and Vistamike,
Could it be that you guys are moderators? Only reason I'm suggesting this is because both Irv and I (members) can't use the "LINK" button, but you guys (moderators) can.

hArLtRoN, nope when logged in to HTG the link facility works in the same way as members, that part does not change. My upper post was via IE in 8cp

I will now boot to 8 and try FF etc

I have never even tried the link button, in all the years I have been on HTG. Member, or Moderator. Nor any other buttons. What's the point, it just slows down posting.

Works with a member level account, too.

Google

I use the link button to dress up the links by defining them. Simply highlight the words, then LINK, then CTRLV paste return.

Firefox works, too and chrome also in 8. I use it all the time.

So I opened IE from the desktop on the Windows 8 CP and tried the "LINK" button and it worked, but not in the Metro Style IE.I'll just use the desktop IE while in the CP.

Are you running natively or under a VM? I'm running a VM, and I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

It could also be a missing setting? I've not played much with IE10? I didn't see any settings though that would matter? However checking ADD-ONS on the CONTROL PANEL and it seems I have none? Wonder if something is needed and it didn't get installed? Moderators, you have any?

Aye, There's the rub. The Metro version does not work like the desktop version.

@Irv,
I am running the CP from a VHD using an article from HTG. Xhi stated that the Metro IE doesn't work the same as the desktop IE. Explains the problem.

@Xhi,
That explains it (LOL)

I wonder if this bug/issue (not sure what to call) will be fixed in the final edition of Windows 8??
