Did you do a clean install or an upgrade from XP?
Don't understand your question
"do you think the type of upgrade disk will effect anything"
Are you using an upgrade disk or a full install disk?

sorry to be so no very clear
i brought a upgrage disk with 3 licences, but i was running 3 computers and all had vista so the shop said an upgrage disc for vista was the way to go. but i only upgraged 2 computers so far and the last one i dont use much and its left for games and general messing around with ( opening up case so people can see how computers work in a hands on way ( The Kids )) but it runs XP not vista so i was not sure if the upgrade disk i brouht to upgrade fro vista to win 7 will also work if i upgrade from XP to win 7
