(Solved) - Windows 7 update

Hi All
New to this site , sent on by a pal of mind whose said its only place for good and straight advice on computers.
Here goes
i have upgraded from xp to win 7 a couple of months ago but i cannot install some updates and SP1 wont install.
also i get blue screen and " windows explorer stopped working" and also internet explorer stops works as well giving me reports like "proplem with webpage"i have tried all options i see on the Microsoft website and nothing will installi reinstalled windows and still have the same problem and its driving me crazy and thinking of going back to XP
any advice would be a huge help

http://windows.microsoft.com/installwindows7sp1 Try the tips here. Also what anti virus are you using and did windows 7 ever work correctly?

i use MS Essentials, and it always seem to have this problem but i have a 3 licence copy would that matter ?

I have even tried " windows standalone installer" and that wont install i get error messages

What Edition of Windows 7 do you have ??

What is the make and model number of your PC or Motherboard ??

i am using Home Premium and the motherboard is ECS GeForce6100PM-M2
System Type X86-based PC

Did you install all the drivers for Windows 7 ??

I am sure it does as the system cd that came with the motherboard says that it supports win 7 ?. should i download the drivers from the website and reinstall
them ?

I would suggest a Clean Install using this Tutorial.

Since you have DVD, you can skip making the USB Stick and start from this picture in the directions.

Read instruction in the tutorial starting from this picture.

After Complete Windows 7 Installation, Load ALL drivers BEFORE installing Updates.

Where did you get the windows disk. Sure it is genuine.

Family Pack version of Windows 7

Probably will have to Activate using this:

Using Regedit
set
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/MediaBootInstall to 0

Run AS Administrator from command prompt
slmgr /rearm

Reboot

Run activation again.

If NO GO then type in Slui 4 and tap enter.

Call MS at the number on the screen and use Automated Telephone Activation.

The answer to the last question is ONE.

Pretty sure we'll loose OP on this one as is too complicated of a procedure. :( :(

the disk is real and not a fake i got it in a high street store

Ok guys, heres an update so far
did a clean install as advised and still wont update all files and i keep getting " windows shut down unexpected " and wont give me a solution ?, and have had some blue screens as well ?.
any advice ?, will i try again

Yes I forgot I ask that last evening.

Sound like a hardware or compatibility problem but without doing hands on, I don't know.

Switch the Memory Modules Between Slots and ensure the the CPU Heat Sink is on Tight.

Then try the Clean Install again.

Hi Guys,rve just noticed that the windows 7 upgrage disk is to upgrage from Vista !!!!. Would that made any differenence to upgrading from XP ?
i dont know much about OS disks and what they contain

"system disc says it compatable with 7 ?" It might be compatable with Win7 but you should visit the mobo website and download "ALL" Win7 drivers.
When your install is complete install the drivers. Install the chipset driver first, then you can install the remainder of drivers.
