Ok so I was just watching a movie on my Pc, the movie stopped playing and said it didn't recognize the disk. I tried reatarting the computer and it is now frozen on the windows start up screen........ the computer didn't come with a windows 7 disc and I have over 1,000 dollars in editing software that I really don't want to lose. I doubt its a virus since this computer hasn't been hooked up to internet in over a year. Please help!!!!

Try safe mode (keep tapping the f8 key on boot up) and see if you can retrieve documents from there.

Having over 1,000 dollars of software, don't you have a backup of these e.g. DVD's CD's, I have similar and have 2 backups of the software including images on separate hard drives!
Once you get the PC up and running I highly recommend creating an Image of the hard drive, you just never know when the little gremlins will attack.

One thing you can try is to disconnect your power cord then unplug your DVD player. Plug your power plug back in and try and start your system.
