(Solved) - windows 7 product key is missing

product key is missing, i bot a emachines forum wal-mart over 1y ago, been using it all this time works fine, mother borde went out and i got a new 1 and a vid card to, now my ""Microsoft Security Essentials"" is telling me i need a new key,

is there any way around buying a new copy?

If the product key is on the computer itself on a sticker then all you may need to do is call Microsoft and explain the change of motherboard. Should be no problem.

You can try the key that is on the COA sticker on your PC. But in general a new board means a new system and OEM keys are not transferrable. Call Microsoft activation center and see whether they will reactivate it for you.

update:Solved
i found the windows product key on the out side of the tower,
i used the "search" bar on the start menu and tip out "Activate windows" and a new window opend, there was an option to put the key in,
after a 2 min loading bar finished it was fixed,
