I have a Toshiba laptop, that I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional (both x32), clean install. It runs fine until I try installing Synaptics Pointing drivers. I have tried installing from an exe taken from my Vista, and from the Synaptics site. The exe is definitley the right one for my OS. I install, and the dialog is fine. Then, when I reboot afterwards, my Windows fails to load. It gets to the Starting Windows screen, where it freezes, before the animated logo appears. Startup repair doesn't find anything, and safe mode fails too. I managed to restore it this last time, but now how do I use trackpad scrolling, etc?
