Windows 7 Desktop Icons

I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. Everything works fine, but a couple of days ago my desktop icons disappeared. The legend under them is still there and the icons area is stil there but the icon picture is not. i tried setting the icon size to medium and large. In large the icons appear perfectly. In medium they appear but with a blank/black square in the bottom left section. in the small setting the blank/black area obscures the icon picture.

Welcome OrlyE, Try deleting your icon cache. Go to C:\Users\myaccount\AppData\Local\Iconcache.db, then reboot.
