(Solved) - Win7 Is more RAM worth it.

My Win7 is fairly fast but slows down when I run Lightroom (maybe because I thousands of images cataloged and it is ever growing) and Photoshop (the full version). My processor is a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @2.83GHz 2.82 GHZ. I have 8 GB of Ram. Solid State Drive.

Would increasing my RAM to 16 GB be an option?

Any other options?

Any input is appreciated.

Open Task Manager > Performance Tab. In Options tab select Always On Top. Run your apps with it running and see if your CPU and/or RAM max out

I am running a cataloging program at present and that seems to be taking awhile. My CPU usage doing that is 53% and the ram is 3.22 GB.

I will report back when that cataloging ends.

You have the best view of your RAM usage in the Resource Monitor > Memory tab.

Using the Resource Monitory I see that I 30 to 70% CPU Usage and 36% used physical memory.

I assume that isn't that bad. Yet things seem slow.

Maybe it is impatience?

If only 36% of your current RAM are used, more RAM will not help.
