I have a wireless router and the only thing i wanted to ask is that - Should I keep it switched on 24x7?
I have a fear that keeping it switched on all the time might overheat it...
What should I do?

Shouldn't be any problem leaving it on 24/7
Switching it off at night or when your not using it will help save the planet that little bit more :)

My router, and modem too, by the way, has been on since I first got them lo those many moons ago. Probably 6 or 7 years. They do not overheat. There is no worry. Overheating would more likely, although slim chance, happen when the item is in high use.

In addition all eight of my computers are on 24/7. They do not overheat either.

Same. Mine are on 24/7, with the exception of the occasional reboot.

@Xhi - you single handily disprove once IBM head Thomas J. Watson's well known alleged 1943 statement of:

"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers"

LOL, nosparks. I had forgotten about that. And that's not counting about 7 more on the shelves in varius states of repair.

In actuality, devices that run very hot, are best left on 24/7 (apart from reboots).

See the HTG Article on routers "wearing out".

As that article says, probably best to make sure your router is well ventilated, like raised and in a cool place (NOT like flat on the floor with carpet right under it.)

What Mr Jam says, is also very true. So well ventilated, and run 24/7.
