wifi hotspot from 3g internet connection

Hi.

Wondering how I can use my windows 8 laptop with a 3g usb modem connecting me to the internet, to then share this internet connection with other devices at my home.

I have a wifi router, but don't have adsl fixed line connection. Can I share my 3g connection on laptop through the router or do I make the laptop a wifi hotspot?

Any thoughts?

Anyone out there?

Your router needs a usb connection slot designed to take a 3G stick. You could try making an adhoc connection from your laptop but if this is going to be a permanent setup I would go with a proper 3G router or mifi which you can carry around in your pocket like a mobile wifi hotspot. Here's some examples: i have a TP-Link MR3220 bought for 30 pounds which is ok. Make sure you get the version 2 of this model to ensure compatibility with W8 if you get it and make sure whatever you get is compatible with your 3G modem model.
