I assume that performance on a spinning disk would be a bit slower. But I run everything from SSDs - even the external disk from where I run Zorin and Windows 8 is a 60GB SSD attached to USB3 - I bought that for $59 from Newegg. My 32GB USB3 stick had cost more. So I really do not notice any performance hit. You may have seen in my videos that everything is instant - what more can you ask for.
PS: I just had a look at Newegg. My $59 SSD is $10 more now and out of stock. But with Newegg you have to be on the ball. They have very good specials at time. Subscribe to their feed.
