I having problem with displaying my desktop icons even, when I right-click on taskbar and hitting show desktop only the back ground displays. Try using the control panel (Personalization - change desktop icons) steps still no luck can anyone shine light on this problem thank you. I can still setup a desktop on toolbar to access programs.

Can you still right click on the Desktop where the background is?
If so then after right clicking on the Desktop, move over View and if there is not a check mark by "Show Desktop Icons" then click on it and see if the icons appear.
