@CPJames19. I love Avira, but the newest free version does not offer the same protection as the previous versions

I use Kaspersky and it does a very good job with my vista. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Well, ESET Smart Security will be the best! It uses very little amount of your RAM, highest proactive virus detection rate, sleek and simplified user interface (you can also use advanced mode), no need for burdensome "game mode" because it doesn't slow down your system even if you were engaged in gaming or some heavy-consuming resource programs and much more.

Check the professional testing guru for antivirus and internet security - http://www.av-comparatves.com
And you will see how ESET performed!

nope, but it offers a 30-day trial.

previously, i used kaspersky internet security, but it gave me a bulky mess and a fearsome experience. it damaged my ntfs partition drive but the thing is i do not know why. another tremendous "bug" happened was it loaded using 99% of my RAM! and it runs some automatic scans that slow down my computer.
that was the reason why i switched to eset. even if you're not asking...!

I haven't experienced any bulky messes or fearsome experiences,my machine runs very fast with Kaspersky. I used Trend Micro previously and it was good, I am using Kaspersky to decide which is the best between the two. As far as Norton goes, I agree with Luke,it plainly stinks,it caused more conflicts with my old machine. Hope this helps Ammar.

Guys,
To be honest with you, I tried McAfee Total Protection 2008 for 30-Days, and I think that it is the first one that quarantined the (Blue Star) Virus. While the others could not. Form that time, I am using this one. But from time to time I am encountering something like Spyware, really I dont know. but I think it is the Best... try it for 30-Days and see.

@CPJames19. When I updated to the newest version a couple (or 3) days ago. I noticed it no longer gave resident protection.

@CPJames19. That you can only use the program to manual scan. It's not permanently guarding your system.

I'm a fan of AVG and have been for some time, however people have recently been having trouble with it apparently.

@CPJames19. Good News. I redownloaded and installed the latest version. The Guard didn't enable (as per last time)
Found out that even this newest version needed a product update to make it work
Downloaded the update and voila! It all works.
So thanks for getting me to retry it, cos it is my favorite. :)
