what des this error message mean

When I play some games I get an access violation error. I was told by the game techs that it might be by graphics card or it could be my virius protection Can some one please tell me what this error mean and how do i fix it?

Does the error message reference an error number or more specific information ??

Thanks for the info i do get specific numbers when i get the message something like could not read from 0020000 to 0040000 those type of numbers then it also says program terminated. I use windows XP with Mcaffee virus portection. this happens on a game called Lost secrets Hidden secrets of bermuda triangle and several other games I have from Bigfish games.
