wd my passport 2tb usb3

just purchased this ext hd thinking that i could watch movies on my ps3 or on an xbox 360 in the same way my old ext hd used to , unfortunatley when i pug the drive in it is not recognised in either the ps3 or xbox, does anybody know how i can get around this , could i purchase an adaptor changing it from usb3 to usb2 ?or is there any other fool proof way to allow me to use it on the ps3 or xbox ?
any help is much appreciated

USB 3 is downward compatible with USB 2.

Sounds as though the HD is bad or needs Initiation and formatting.

Put it on your PC and make a picture of Disk Management. Post that picture here. Then we'll see.
