Want XP on my Windows 7 laptop
(12 posts)if you have the XP installation cd, its rather easy.
before you start......make sure you download the XP drivers for your exact model of laptop, eg sound, video, LAN, ect.
then.... restart your pc hit tap the F10 key to enter your bios.
insert XP CD, then navigate to boot options, change the boot order to boot from CD/DVD drive, save and exit bios.
system should boot from CD, and bring up the XP installation screen.
follow usual installation promps, when it comes to disk formatting, format all disks (this will remove win7 and all other files, so back up anything you want onto a external HD) thenchoose the drive you want to install XP on and follow prompts, done.
once installed, install device drivers.
then go back into bios and change boot order back to HD.
I recommend against installing Windows XP over Windows 7 on a new computer; you will most likely encounter many problems and gain very little.
Windows 7 is a very good operating system and has many advantages over Windows XP; one of those advantages is being optimized for newer processors and other hardware.
You're best bet is to just learn how to use Windows 7, the help system in Windows 7 is a great place to start learning; you can also ask for help in this forum and others online should you encounter any problems with Windows 7.
Totaly AGREE with Justin.
