I went to start-programs-accessories and there is no entertainment folder i searched Volume Control and nothing was found..PROBLEM A
Next problem is that I bought a microphone headset.. I can hear myself in the headset, but the computer doesn't recognize it when I do configuration or am on MSN messenger talking to my bf who is in Iraq. I went to Sound and it shows the mic and line-in or whatever and the mic has a check next to it.. So my computer acknowledges the mic but isn't picking up the sound???
Oh and I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista.

Volume Control Missing;Microphone won't work
(6 posts)Problem A - What exactly were you looking for? I don't have an entertainment folder in there either.
Problem B - If you can hear yourself through the headset then that's a sign that the mic is indeed working. Try going to
Start>all programs>accessories>sound recorder.
See if you can record yourself talking and then play it back. If that works then you know for sure the mic is working and your issue might be with MSN messenger.
Do you use any other messenger app? If so try it in one of those to see if it works.
Just a side note - If you and your BF have webcams you can use skype to video chat and it's free. I use it all the time to keep in touch with family and it works great. Just thought i'd throw that out there.
