HELP !! I have videos of child's sporting events. Need to make a highlight dvd of moments from all the videos I took. When I put the mini dvds (that my camcorder uses instead of mini tapes) they play fine on Windows Media Player. I drag, or copy and paste the entire file into my video files on my computer. When I open the file, several folders are there with various labels, but the one file that is the largest is a vod file. When I import it into Windows Movie Maker, I don't get the entire video, I get a 4 second clip. I did some research in various forums, including this one, and read about converters used to convert the files from vod files to avi files as WMM does not support vod files. So, I downloaded a AVI converting software onto my computer and converted my video into a vod file. Now when I went to play it on WMM, I have the entire AUDIO of the video but No picture. I give up. I don't know what to do. I have read about codecs that may be needed that are missing, then I read in this forum to STAY AWAY FROM CODECS - that they are our worst enemy. Does anyone have any idea what I can do. I am under such a time constraint for this video and I'm stumped.

vod files in Windows Movie Maker
(5 posts)Yes, see how bad I am at this. .vob files. And I downloaded AVS Video Converter and it downloaded AVS4YOU Software Navigator to do it. and as I said, then it converted it to the point that I don't get a 4 second clip anymore, but I get no picture, just audio. Thanks for trying to help me. I really appreciate it
Hi Loadedmom,
For converting a file you can use FormatFactory. So far I haven't found a better one yet :)
And avi gives quite some qualityloss, so it's better to convert the files to mpg or wmv. Both can be imported in WMM.
And like LH I wonder what the other files are:)
And before editing your files, make sure you have copies (like keeping the original mini dvd's safe). Better safe then sorry!
