does anyone know the recommended vista windows features for the average user please

I mean, are you trying to figure out which version to purchase? If so Home Premium should be fine. It all depends on what your looking for.

I second mysticgeek. Just make sure you have at least 2GB's of RAM. In case you have 4GB's or more of RAM, you have to get the 64bit version to make use of all that RAM. The more RAM the better, but the 32bit Vista can only address 3.2GB's - everything above that would only be used for I/O buffering.
