Not sure if you can delete the setting or prevent it from storing the files. However you can delete all those files using ccleaner.

Hi rlandjr,

Welcome to HTG:)
Like Santo says, to keep your pc clean you can at least use CCleaner to keep the folder clean (you can add the folder under 'advanced> custom files and folders').
And Ccleaner is a good one for your computerhealth in any case:)

Concerning the problem, some things that come to mind:
- might be a task in your taskscheduler that refreshes this hunt for jpg on a daily basis
- might have to do with a stored seach that get's refreshed on a daily basis
(are stored in something like "C:\Users\*username*\Saved Searches")
Delete / disable the task or the saved search and hopefully your problem will be solved :)

Cheers,
Sarah.

Not heard of this but what I'd do is look at the TIMESTAMPS of the files. Then try to figure out what was running then? I'd first suspect a browser. If so, start looking for plug-ins or add-ons causing this. Look at the JPG's and maybe you can determine where they are coming from as well and that might give a clue as well.

Wonder if you have IE8's Web Slices enabled for instance? IE8 --> TOOLS --> INTERNET OPTIONS --> FEED AND WEB SLICES --> SETTINGS, turn on sounds if nothing else to alert you.

Firefox has some add-ons that will monitor web sites too.

Hmm, you made me look at that folder (I'm on W7) and it is 122MB's composed of 361 items. No DETAILS though? I GOOGLED that folder, and many hit are for this.

The best answer I saw (stealing from someone else) is :

============
Recently Changed isn't a normal folder. It's a saved search.

When you open it it lists recently changed files. What you're seeing is a
mirror of the actual files that were found with the search. Anything you do
to the files in Recently Changed you do to the original file, because each
icon in Recently Changed is the original file.

The Recently Changed search folder appears in 2 places. It is a 'link' to
the actual search folder in the Favorite Links at the top of the navigation
pane in Windows Explorer and the actual search folder is in
C:\Users\username\Searches\Recently Changed.

Although you cannot delete a file in this folder without deleting the
original file, you can delete the search folder itself without affecting the
files that are mirrored in that folder. You can also just remove the
Recently Changed folder in the Favorite Links section by right clicking the
link and selecting Remove Link, which will not effect the original search
folder in the users saved searches.

This folder is created when Vista is installed and is simply intended to
show some of the capabilities of the search component. Some users do not
like this folder since it does keep a history of files that have been
modified on the computer.

You can re-create this folder by simply configuring another search in the
advanced search options and then saving the search.
==========

Under W7 at least these are not even files themselves but pointers to them. Open the PROPERTIES and you should see the location of the real files. Explorer shows the foldes a light blue, a junction it seems. This could be W7 specific though.

If the above is true, don't worry about it, be happy.

I am also having a problem with this. There's over 500 jpeg & xml documents in my recently changed file. I installed the ccleaner & it did not remove these. Am really tired of cleaning these out 10 at a time only to get back into the file & they are there again. How Do you get rid of these? Please help. Thanks.
